CLASSIC!!! This is where we hung out every day
by the chess tables around the corner
from EI. I LOVE this picture of Andy, sporting
his trench coat and looking ultra cool. Check the guys
walking down 6th Ave., peering into the shot.
winter/spring 1970.
John Rossant! I haven't heard anyone mention him.
I think he only was in our class for a couple of years? Good guy -
When the moratorium stuff was going on, and students at
the New School on 13th and 5th had occupied that building,
EI begrudgingly let us Junior High Types hang out there for a
few weeks until the police took it back.
John and I mostly went on food runs for the 1th Graders who were
running the show, like Andy Jackness...it was better than going to
class! I ran into him randomly, in a bar in SoHo iin 1982 and he
seemed well.

What was it with the cigarettes?
Yours truly with the Lucky Strike.

anybody remember this guy? I guess he lived near
the school and used to hang around us .
Heavy Eastern European Accent.

I took this of Karen Fisher in the student lounge.
The dreamy light really enhances her ethereal beauty.
Hi Karen!

This was snapped when Lisa Schillit and I took a trip to The Putney
School to visit Kevin Mathewson. I applied to Putney that year but
those smarmy bastids rejected me! Oh well, all's well..
Lisa looks great in her camo gear - has anyone heard from her?

Kevin, in Brooklin Maine, August 1970.
We spent a glorious summer at his folks
house, sailing around Penobscot bay with his
dad in their 34 foot sloop, The Felicity, and
generally misbehaving. Normally we kept the
beverages inside brown paper bags for effect.
Emailing with Kevin recently, and he let me
know that he's sober these days, so I hope he
doesn't mind the pic!

May 1964 from Jane Kosovsky

I absolutely loved our trip to Jug Hill at the end of the 8's. Here's a picture I took of my bunk.In the back row its Rie and Lisa Schilit, the front is Lucy Rudolf, Claudia Holland, Ann J Gumbinner and Johnna Murray (holding a copy of Black Beauty). I remember making soap, watching a lamb, and especially playing with the dog "Gordy".

Here I am at my 9th birthday party, where we watched Nanook of the North. Laura Smith's back is on the right, and I believe I'm next to Mimi Doi, who was in our class for a bit.

Here's another at Jug Hill. Susie Waller on the left and Liz Whelan center. David Weissberg is on the right.Take a look at the picture Liz posted of her and her mother-some people don't change at all! Even the pose is the same!

1960 / Cape Cod - the place in this world that remains most dear and deepest in my heart...I'm sure I'll end up there more permanently someday

Hampton (NH) sk8park summer 2007
alright - I figure since Ava posted those pics of herself looking so fit and healthy (HI AVA!), I'd drop these of pauly B ripping a rock to fakie at the Hampton mini ramp...well, maybe not ripping it but having a blast.
I'm an OK sk8er, a better surfer, and still a great hoopster > > > obviously you wouldn't see as many people taking their surfboards on the subway to Rockaway back in the day as you might now, but the West 4th St. courts were right there, and like Will Friedman said, we practically lived at them for a few years.
As a matter of fact, Andy Lerner and I have a permanent game of 1 on 1 going that we're gonna resume when we get in touch again. At last count (maybe 25 years ago), I was leading 338-277 - right Andy?;D
I'm loving the email exchanges I've been having with you guys, and like I said, I'll be posting some EI pics as soon as I can scan my slides - Paul Block

Greetings From David Wertheimer

Hi – Here are a few pictures from a sailing trip earlier this year near our home on Guernes Island, in the northern Puget Sound of Washington State. That's me at the wheel, and me and my husband, Paul Beaudet, relaxing after hauling up a 4,000 square foot mailsail! At top is a photo of us at home, with Kari, the Krazy Karelian Bear Dog. Greetings to all the LRSH Class of '73.

Visual Aid

This is a belt that my mom bought for me in the sixties at Alan Block's sandal shop on W. Fourth Street. It was always one of my favorites and I've replaced the leather twice.

Rie Schmidt and Laurie Baird

Hello-
I have been reading everyone's news, and since I didn't graduate from EI it has been a vicarious experience for me. My own 35th reunion at LaGuardia High School will happen this Saturday.

I found this picture of myself and Laurie Baird in Martha's Vineyard. We had two summers there which we very memorable.

I have many memories of my years at LR/EI. It has been great to read all the "where are they now" files.

Regards,
Rie

What a Good-Looking Bunch We Are!

I'm loving the photos that have been posted, reunion and others too. I recognized many of those who got to the reunion, but not all...it will be a process of elimination until I figure out everyone (or until someone posts some names to match)... Meanwhile, I just spoke to Susan (Waller) Hipple who asked me to post this picture of her at home with her husband and daughters.

More Reunion Photos!

OK folks -- here are some more reunion photos courtesy of Liz Whelan's sister. This is really frustrating! Some one please label these photos! Some people I recognize but not all, Claudia Mohr and I have been talking lately and we both need memory jogs. If anyone has more it would be great to see. My 14 yr. old and 3 friends were looking at this with me, they looked at the old photos and laughed at us all young and then simply refused to believe that the "old" people were the same people. Serious denial at the concept of themselves at 50.Must say I wouldn't have believed it either in 1973.
